Profile

Dr. Bivins has always had a passion for science. Practicing medicine was a way for him to pursue his love of science and directly apply that knowledge to helping people. During his internal medicine residency in Kalamazoo, he spent a rotation at the West Michigan Cancer Center – spiking his interest in the medical oncology field. “This is an extremely interesting area of medicine. New treatments are constantly becoming available.”

Dr. Bivins specializes in treating patients with solid tumors, like brain cancer, lung cancer and GI cancers. However, as a medical oncologist and hematologist, he works with patients with all types of cancers and blood disorders.

Dr. Bivins and his wife are both West Michigan natives. He grew up in Grand Rapids, and she in Kalamazoo. They love this area and now raise their three children here. In his spare time, Dr. Bivins enjoys running, traveling and attending as many MSU sporting events as possible.
