American Health Care Association and National Center for Assisted Living (AHCA/NCAL) (2018, 2021, 2024)
Bronson Commons has been recognized as a 2024 Silver – Achievement in Quality Award recipient by the American Health Care Association and National Center for Assisted Living (AHCA/NCAL). The award is the second highest distinction possible through the AHCA/NCAL National Quality Award Program, which recognizes organizations that meet progressively rigorous standards of performance to further improve the lives of residents and staff in long term care.
Epic Gold Stars Award (2022, 2024)
Bronson achieved Epic Gold Stars Level 10. This is the highest recognition possible and places Bronson in the top 9% of healthcare organizations using Epic electronic medical record (EMR) technology. The Epic Stars program measures organizations in several focus areas: patient access, patient experience, clinical quality and safety, population health management, physician productivity, nursing productivity, and value from data. Accredited Sleep Center (2019-2024)
Bronson Sleep Lab in Battle Creek and Portage is accredited for in-lab and out-of-center sleep testing by The American Academy of Sleep Medicine. Only a fraction of sleep centers in the U.S. are accredited.
Best Nursing Home (2013-2023)
Bronson Commons has been named a Best Nursing Home by U.S. News & World Report. U.S. News awarded the “Best Nursing Homes” designation to facilities that are top performers in patient and resident care, safety and outcomes. More than 15,000 nursing homes nationwide were rated, but less than 3,000 received this distinction.
Five-star Rating for Overall Quality (2008-2019)
Bronson Commons has been rated a five-star for overall quality by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). This rating was based on health inspections, quality measures and staffing at Bronson Nursing Rehabilitation Center, which is now known as Bronson Commons.
Michigan Domestic and Sexual Violence Prevention and Treatment Board Compliance Visit (2014-2017)
Sexual Assault Services (SAS), a grant-funded department of Bronson Battle Creek, received the final report from the Michigan Domestic and Sexual Violence Prevention and Treatment Board (MDSVPTB)/DHS of results from a quality assurance site visit conducted on April 22-23, 2014. SAS received 100 percent compliance of 135 mandatory core standards and 100 percent compliance of 26 advanced standards. SAS received “exceeds standard” ratings on 16 percent of core standards and on 3 percent of advanced standards.
Neurodiagnostics Lab Accreditation (2012-2017)
Bronson Neurology & Neurodiagnostic Specialists was accredited by the American Association of Neuromuscular & Electrodiagnostic Medicine. This accreditation recognizes the lab's diagnostic services and clinical operations, equipment, protocols, quality of test reports and policies for ensuring the health and safety of every patient.
MPRO's Governor's Award of Excellence (2014)
Bronson Commons has received this award for achievements in reducing health care acquired conditions in nursing homes.
Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Nuclear Medicine Laboratories (ICANL) (2014-2016)
Bronson Advanced Cardiac Healthcare's nuclear cardiology department has received reaccreditation. The purpose of the ICANL accreditation is to ensure a high level of patient care quality. During the accreditation process, every part of the nuclear cardiology department's daily operation is evaluated to determine the impact on patient care. This accreditation must be renewed every three years, which fosters a long-term commitment to quality.
Breast Imaging Center of Excellence (2008)
Bronson Center for Women named a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence by the American College of Radiology (ACR) in recognition of providing comprehensive breast imaging and diagnostic services exceeding required standards. Bronson Center for Women is one of only 187 breast imaging centers in the United States earning Breast Imaging Center of Excellence, and one of three in the state. There are 309 accredited mammography sites in Michigan.
Governor's Award of Excellence for Improving Preventive Care in the Ambulatory Care Setting (2005, 2006, 2007)
Bronson primary care practices received this award, presented by MPRO, Michigan's Quality Improvement Organization. The practices honored most recently were Bronson Family Medicine Downtown, Bronson Family Practice Oshtemo, Bronson Family Medicine Portage, Bronson Internal Medicine Downtown, Bronson Internal Medicine Oshtemo, Bronson Internal Medicine Associates, and Bronson Outpatient Center Paw Paw.
Medical Group Management Association (MGMA) (2005)
The survey recognizes Bronson OB/GYN Associates in the areas of productivity, capacity and staffing. Of the 1700+ practices eligible for this award, just 340 were named as better performers.
Michigan Childhood Immunization Registry Private Provider Site of Excellence Award (2004)
Bronson Rambling Road Pediatrics in Portage received the Michigan Childhood Immunization Registry Private Provider Site of Excellence Award for 2004, recognizing the practice that exceeds reporting requirements and utilization of the MCIR as a tool to increase the vaccine coverage level in the community.
Quality Comparison by the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (2003)
Bronson Home Health Care (BHHC) was the highest ranked home health agency in Michigan, according to 2003 quality comparison by the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services. The figures compare 214 Medicare-certified home health agencies in the state. BHHC ranked above the national average in ten out of eleven categories measured.
