I love being able to serve my community every day
While in high school, I participated in the 21st Century Health program here in Battle Creek. When I started the program, I thought I wanted to become a vet. Little did I know the program would completely change my career path. As part of the program, I was required to participate in clinicals within several areas of healthcare. Because of this, I discovered that I enjoy caring for people as much as I enjoy my time working with animals. From then on, I decided to pursue a career in nursing. I fell in love with field of oncology while volunteering in the Bronson Battle Creek Cancer Care Center. I spent plenty of time there while a part of the 21st Century Health program, and later as a college student. I always dreamed of returning. And thankfully, once I graduated with my degree, I did! I love every part of my job! My favorite part though is the true reward I get from working with and caring for such wonderful people. I can’t imagine a job where I am not working at the bedside with patients. As far as my teammates, you will not find a better group of people than the team here at the Cancer Care Center. Last September, I had my first child. My team showed so much care and support. While pregnant, I had certain restrictions. My coworkers were always there to pick up my slack without complaint. They truly cared for my health and the well-being of my daughter. We’re family at Bronson.
