I love home care because I really get to connect with my patients.

Photo of Amy, RNI have worked for Bronson for 23 years! I had worked for 2 years on the med/surg/oncology floor in Battle Creek. I have worked as a home health nurse for Lifespan/Bronson At Home for about 19 years now. I spent a year and a half working at The Wound Healing Center at Bronson Battle Creek from 2015 to 2017, where I learned a lot of new things and worked with some great physicians and nurses. I've been back in home care for over 5 years now.

In my 23 years with Bronson I have grown tremendously as a nurse. Nursing is a continuously changing field, with new things to learn all of the time. I am constantly learning about new techniques or treatments. I have learned how to work as a member of a team, even though I am alone in the field most of the time. I have learned that good communication and accountability are key to being successful. I have also learned that nursing is not just a job, but a calling that many of us were meant to do.

I enjoy working for Bronson because I know I have a secure job. I also enjoy the people I work with and the patients I get to help. I am motivated each day coming to work knowing I will get to make an impact on them. I love home care because I really get to connect with my patients. You see them differently in their own environment versus in a hospital or office setting. You get to see how they live, what they need, and how you can help them. I like that we offer a variety of services to help our clients get better and stay in the comfort of their homes. We get to see our patients for a longer period of time, sometimes even years, which allows us to develop more of a relationship with them and their families. I love feeling every day like I've made a difference in these patients lives and their health.

I have worked for Bronson for the last 23 years because I feel valued as a team member. My leaders send me messages or tell me in person that I am doing a good job. I'm often told that I'm a valued member of our team.
