Joe represents the spirit of nursing excellence in leadership

Joe Evans smiles for the camera on his unit after receiving the Leadership Excellence Award in 2024.Joe's unwavering commitment, tireless work ethic, and compassionate leadership continue to leave an impressible mark on Bronson Battle Creek's nursing community.

Joe’s journey at Bronson began in 2011 as a dedicated floor RN. Over the years, he has seamlessly transitioned into various roles, including charge nurse, unit coordinator and now manager of nursing. As a manager, his hands-on approach and clinical expertise set him apart. Joe’s level-headed demeanor and fair-mindedness create a positive work environment for both staff and patients. Despite the added responsibilities and stress of managing two units (C5/Oncology and MICU as well as the ins and outs of agency staff), Joe remains a constant, steady presence as he ensures that processes are efficient, quality-driven, and patient-focused. His unwavering commitment to excellence is truly commendable.

Whether at the bedside or behind the scenes, Joe is always willing to jump in and lend a helping hand, proving his dedication to his team as well as ensuring excellent patient care. He keeps his team organized, motivated, on track, and is often known for asking, “Can I help?” even when his plate is full. He has gone above and beyond for his team – even taking the time to prepare smoked pork sandwiches for them -  which speaks volumes about his commitment to celebrating and recognizing their hard work.

Working with Joe is a pleasure. I never doubt that his work will be completed on time and with precision. His ability to make solid decisions, even in challenging situations, inspires confidence and trust among all.
