Over the past year, Morgan - a cardiology nurse at Bronson Methodist Hospital - has demonstrated leadership qualities and has made significant contributions to benefit the cardiology unit in her role as unit council chair, as well as to Nursing Shared Leadership (recently stepping up as Professional Growth Council Chair).
Morgan possesses a blend of leadership qualities that set her apart. Her commitment to providing quality patient care, advocating for the nursing/care team, coupled with her strong communication skills and compassionate demeanor, has earned her the respect of those around her.
Morgan has gone above and beyond in her role within the cardiology unit, as she has stepped up as unit council chair. She encourages open communication, values perspectives, and ensures members of the team feel empowered and heard. She has collaborated with her team to spearhead numerous trials and initiatives such as standardizing a new admission/transfer patient room set-up as well as standardizing criteria for TAPs and Purewick usage, with the goal of improving patient outcomes and enhancing the overall quality of care.
Morgan has also been an integral part of Bronson’s Nursing Shared Leadership, actively participating in Policy, Innovations, Divisional Shared Leadership and Professional Growth Councils. Her dedication and participation have been instrumental in driving positive change and fostering a culture of collaboration within the team. She has recently taken on the role of Chair of the Professional Growth Council. Her willingness to take on this responsibility demonstrates her commitment to positive growth in the areas of nursing recruitment, retention, professional development, and recognition.
Morgan is also dedicated to her own professional development as she is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree. Despite her demanding schedule, she continues to push forward academically while balancing her responsibilities as a nurse and at home. Morgan’s dedication, passion, and commitment to excellence make her an invaluable asset to the cardiology team as well as to Bronson’s nursing community as a whole. It is with great pride that I nominate Morgan for the Nurse Excellence Award.
