She identified a potential risk that kept people safe

Recently, Valerie was sent to the ED to be helping hands nurse in ED triage. In addition to adjusting well to the rhythm and flow of the ED, Valerie was able to identify a potential safety risk. While assisting a patient with her belongings, Valarie noted that the patient had a handgun with her. Valerie brought attention to this manner immediately by notifying the charge nurse and ED police officer. The ED police officer and charge nurse spoke with the patient who stated she had her CPL and forgot the gun was in her bag. The patient’s weapon was then secured for patient to retrieve with BCPD upon disposition. Thank you to Valarie for speaking up for the safety of employees, patients and visitors!
