Susan realizes all people are not the same and assumes good intentions.

Whether it is Susan’s colleagues, patient or their families, Susan, one of our nurses, provides every person with a great amount of individual respect. She is one of those people you trust your opinions and ideas as they come from a trusted place.

On one occasion, Susan had a patient who was a Code 3 and had a quick change in status in the early morning. Susan had been in the room minutes prior to the patients status decline. The rapid response team was called. There wasn't a lot rapid response could do, and the patient was going to pass quickly. During the time of debriefing it became very apparent to me that Susan carried a tremendous amount of responsibility in ensuring the patient's wishes were followed. Even though the patient's life was ending, Susan wanted to be sure that all appropriate medications and other support was given by rapid response team, since that was the patient's wishes even though they were at a code 3. Susan realizes all people are not the same and assumes good intentions. This is a great example of Bronson's standard - Be Respectful.
