Shared Leadership & Nurse Recognition
At Bronson, we want our nurse to feel empowered to become involved in decision making and initiate change. One way we do this is through our shared governance structure. Each unit/department has a council. This allows nurses to be involved in decision-making in the area they work. Representatives from each council come together to create an organizational shared leadership council. The goals of the nursing shared leadership council are to:
- Provide effective communication and collaboration between nursing staff, ancillary staff and leadership.
- Design, oversee and evaluate changes and/or improvements within nursing and overall patient care.
- Sustain a high level of performance and growth.
- Own and improve patient safety and quality.
- Promote evidenced-based nursing care.
- Support professional development, recognition and celebration.
Councils
Research & Innovation
Bronson nurses are encouraged to research best practices and share their knowledge and expertise. The System Nursing Innovations Council serves to identify, coordinate and promote research and evidence-based practice in clinical decision-making.
Policy
Facility- and system-level Nursing Policy Councils engage all levels of nursing in identifying, developing, approving and maintaining evidence-based nursing policies.
Informatics
The System Nursing Informatics Council acts to engage front line leadership and staff, optimizing Bronson’s electronic medical record (EMR).
Professional Growth
The Professional Growth Council gives nurses a voice in creating a healthy work environment, celebrating and recognizing accomplishments, and creating recruitment and retention activities.
Celebrating our Nurses
Nurses at Bronson work hard, and they deserve to be recognized and celebrated for their accomplishments
Recent Excellence in Nursing & DAISY Award Winners
The DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses
The DAISY Award is supported by the not-for-profit DAISY (Diseases Attacking the Immune System) Foundation. Bonnie and J. Mark Barnes created this foundation and award as a way to remember their son, J. Patrick Barnes. Patrick had a disease that attacked his body and was in the hospital for a long time. His nurses did such a great job with him that the Barnes family created an award that continues to recognize the excellent work nurses do every day.
