Gastrointestinal (GI) bleeding happens somewhere in your digestive system which goes from the esophagus (the tube from the mouth to the stomach), down to your intestines, bowels, rectum and anus. The bleeding can be caused by infection, disease, food poisoning or a number of other conditions.
