Late Effects of Radiation or Soft Tissue Radionecrosis

In some instances, radiation may cause long-term inflammation and damage to healthy tissue. This condition is referred to as Soft Tissue Radionecrosis or STRN. Complications resulting from radiation can cause chronic pain and may not become apparent or be recognized until long after the radiation treatment has concluded.
