Profile

Julie
first became interested in neurology in her undergraduate courses at the University
of Michigan. Majoring in movement science, she focused on motor control,
including courses focused on disorders of voluntary movement, and understanding
those mechanisms in order to establish treatment. She then went on to obtain a
national registration as an EEG Technologist, and worked for years in epilepsy,
continuing to grow her passion for neurology before attending school to become
a physician assistant. Julie is excited to come to work each day, because neurology
is such a vast and exciting field, and each patient and case is different and
rewarding in its own way. She enjoys working alongside a fantastic
collaborative team, whose goal is to improve patient outcomes and make a
difference in their lives.

Julie credits living in Germany during high school as having the greatest
influence on her life. There she learned to value travel and adventure, but
also how language doesn’t have to be a barrier to connecting and caring for
people, and how important it is to take the time to understand each person and
their values.

Julie has volunteered her time with the MCREST team, a rotating homeless
shelter in Macomb County, and looks forward to finding opportunities to serve
her new community in southwest Michigan. In her free time, Julie loves to read,
travel, and spend time in nature, especially among trees or by the water.
