Dr. Van Heukelom chose family medicine because it empowers him to care for the entire community and patients of all ages. Dr. Van Heukelom credits his brother, Pediatric Hospitalist Jesse Van Heukelom, as being his biggest influence in life. He says that Jesse is a fun and supportive brother as well as a role model in his pursuit and practice of a medical career. Both brothers now practice at Bronson.

Dr. Van Heukelom gets excited about coming to work each day knowing will develop and strengthen relationships with his patients and co-workers. He has a special interest in procedures, specifically laceration repair and a variety of dermatology repairs, as well as adolescent and sport medicine. Dr. Van Heukelom and his wife are parents to three children adopted through foster care. In his free time, he enjoys trail running, including ultra-marathon and triathlon races. He also enjoys attending concerts and being outdoors with his wife and children.
