My Approach to Care

“I believe that listening is one of the most important approaches in patient care. They need to feel comfortable expressing their concerns and asking questions. I believe in educating my patients; when they understand their disease process and the treatments available, they are less anxious which helps to achieve successful treatment. Communication between patients, medical, clinical and non-clinical staff is also very important – working together as a team is the only way we can help improve patient outcomes.”

Before attending medical school, Dr. Isayenko was a medical assistant (MA) for 10 years. During that time, she realized that she wanted to be the first one to diagnose a patient and direct them to the correct specialists. She feels that family medicine physicians are gate keepers, and that every day in family medicine is a unique specialty that allows you to participate in the care of the whole family. Understanding family dynamics and becoming part of these families is a great lifelong experience for her.

 

“Providing care of all ages, from newborns to the elderly, has its own challenges – but that’s what makes my days exciting,” says Dr. Isayenko. “Knowing that I have the opportunity to save at least one life by the end of the day, is the most rewarding outcome I look for.” Dr. Isayenko has a special interest in diabetes, hypertension, women's health and skin diseases. 

In her free time, Dr. Isayenko and her husband enjoy exploring new countries, learning about different cultures, and hiking with their dog; she also enjoys baking and cooking.
