My Approach to Care

My approach to patient care is rooted in empathy, respect and active listening. I treat each patient as a unique individual, recognizing their values and preferences. My goal is to provide support that goes beyond their physical needs by talking about the importance of emotional and psychological wellbeing to achieve overall health and wellness.

Amy decided to become a nurse at a very young age after being involved in two family members' complex medical care. She was fascinated at how someone’s symptoms or health data could be translated into a diagnosis and a treatment plan. While she was always aware of the bigger team behind the scenes, nurses were a constant and she was amazed at the way they were able to handle the pressures of caring for patients. She knew she was meant to be that person for others. After nearly 15 years of being a nurse, she decided to become a nurse practitioner and utilize her knowledge and skills to impact patients' lives in a different way.

What drives Amy is preparing patients for their treatment, which sometimes involves complicated surgery, and see them through their recovery. She finds walking with patients and their families through every step of the process very rewarding.

She credits her boys for being the biggest influence in her life. Being a mom has taught Amy to slow down and be present in all areas of her life. Camping, hiking, hunting and fishing with her family are some of her favorite activities outside of work. Amy also enjoys cycling, baking and crochet.
