John T. Hopkins, MD, wanted to become a physician because he loves teaching and believes that ultimately being a good primary care doctor and especially a pediatrician involves being a good teacher. Dr. Hopkins’ wife and two children have been his biggest influences. They inspire him want to be a better person and stay honest with himself. What Dr. Hopkins enjoys most about his career is hearing about the joys and successes of kids and spending time getting to know his patients’ families. He has special interests in obesity medicine.

During his free time, Dr. Hopkins teaches Sunday school. He also enjoys singing in his gospel quartet, long distance bike rides and hiking with his family. He is also an amateur glass blower and wood turner.
