Dr. Dhawan chose a career in oncology because she is passionate about making a meaningful impact in the lives of individuals facing cancer. It is a field where she can provide compassionate care to patients and contribute to advancements in cancer treatment and patient outcomes. Her philosophy is to provide multidisciplinary care while prioritizing a patient’s quality of life.

As a hematologist-oncologist, Dr. Dhawan works with patients with all types of cancers and blood disorders. However, she has a special interest in thoracic and gastrointestinal oncology. She also spends time completing diversity and health equity research to ensure she is providing the right care for every patient.

Her patients are the biggest influence in her life. Witnessing their strength, resilience and determination in the face of cancer inspires her every day. Their stories and experiences motivate her to continuously strive for excellence in providing personalized care and making a difference in her patients’ lives.  

Outside of work, Dr. Dhawan volunteers on multiple regional and national level palliative medicine and oncology committees. She has embedded advancing patient care and field research into her everyday life. She also enjoys trying new restaurants, traveling and spending time with family and friends
