Profile

Sonya credits her mother for teaching her the importance of advocating for what is best for the community and that sense of advocacy led her to become a midwife.

Sonya loves midwifery because it embodies her feminism and her commitment to equity. As a midwife, she empowers patients through health education and support. She is passionate about providing equitable, evidence based and whole person care to individuals across their lifespan and during childbirth.

In the office setting, she provides emotional and physical support for patients. On days Sonya is on call, she is motivated by a strong sense of privilege to be able to guide patients and their families through the labor and birth process. Sonya also facilitates Centering Pregnancy groups and contraceptive counseling. She enjoys working with patients to develop their reproductive health plans.

Outside of work, Sonya loves spending time with her husband and two children. She is also an avid reader and participates in anti-racism work within the Kalamazoo community.

30 Patient Satisfaction Reviews

The ratings displayed below are an average of all patient responses to Bronson Healthcare’s Press Ganey survey.

This survey is used by hospitals and medical practices across the country and was developed by Press Ganey Associates. Surveys are sent to randomly selected Bronson patients after they have had an appointment with a Bronson physician in an outpatient practice setting.

The comments and star ratings you see here reflect the views and opinions of patients who have completed and returned their surveys. Press Ganey independently compiles the data and forwards it to Bronson to be posted.
