Maternal-fetal medicine is a specialty of obstetrics and gynecology. It focuses on pregnancy and the effects on both mother and baby. We discuss and treat the following complications of pregnancy:
- Obstetrical
- Medical
- Genetic
- Surgical
Our physicians are obstetricians/gynecologists who are fellowship trained in maternal-fetal medicine. Services include:
- Consultation for mothers with high-risk pregnancies
- Consultation for mothers at risk for obstetrical complications
- Genetic counseling
Our maternal-fetal medicine providers are full-time and have extensive experience in maternal-fetal care. Patients are referred to Bronson Maternal Fetal Medicine Specialists for the following reasons:
- Pre-term labor, or a history of pre-term labor
- Premature rupture of membranes
- Pregnancy-induced hypertension (preeclampsia)
- Insulin-dependent or gestational diabetes
- Medical complications such as lupus, chronic hypertension or renal disease
- Blood group incompatibility
- Bleeding problems
- Multiple pregnancies
- Fetal health assessment
- Congenital abnormalities
- Pre-conception counseling because of poor obstetrical history, previous pregnancy loss or chronic medical conditions
