$167,000 Raised for Bronson Children's Hospital Programs and Services

While the weather conditions Sunday morning made it unsafe to continue with the 2019 Bronson Children’s Hospital Run & Walk, the support from those who registered, donated and/or volunteered will make a tremendous difference to patients and families at Bronson Children’s Hospital. The event raised more than $167,000 for the Bronson Health Foundation’s Children’s Hospital Fund. The Fund supports programs and services for patients and families in the Pediatric and Pediatric Intensive Care Units and the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).

More than 1,700 people registered for the Run & Walk, and nearly 300 people volunteered. Presenting Sponsor Mall City Mechanical, along with 35 other corporate sponsors, also generously contributed to the Run & Walk.

“We were disappointed to have to call off the Run & Walk just as it was getting underway. It was a difficult decision, but we are so grateful for the understanding and continued support from the community for our young patients and their families,” says Liz Semaan, executive director of the Bronson Health Foundation. Funds raised will be used to provide child life and art and music therapy programs and to replace recliners in the NICU.

While the fundraising event will not be rescheduled, registered participants who still want to pick up their cinch sacks and t-shirts can do so next Monday, October 7 from 3 to 6 p.m. in the Bronson Gilmore Center Lobby, located off Walnut Street across from the Emergency Department in Downtown Kalamazoo. Children’s finisher ribbons will also be available to pick up.

Any participants with follow-up questions should contact the Bronson Health Foundation at healthfoundation@bronsonhg.org.
