Excellence in Maternity Care Awarded to Bronson Battle Creek

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. – The BirthPlace at Bronson Battle Creek Hospital has been recognized by the Economic Alliance for Michigan (EAM) for excellence in maternity care and delivery outcomes. It is one of only nine hospitals in the State of Michigan to receive this major award. This is one of the many reasons that the Bronson BirthPlace in Battle Creek is Calhoun County’s most popular choice for maternity care. Bronson Battle Creek labor and delivery staff members: Cait Grube, LPN; Ashley Ernsberger, RN; Amanda Cole, RN; Bre May, unit clerk; Taylor Gordier, RN.

The award recognizes Bronson Battle Creek Hospital for achieving high standards of care in cesarean rates, episiotomy rates, elective early delivery rates and maternity care processes. The award is based on data gathered by the Leapfrog Group, a national organization committed to improving healthcare quality and safety for consumers and purchasers.

“Maternity care is about helping patients through pregnancy and birth safely,” said Carol Fuller, Bronson Women & Children’s Services system director. “Receiving this award shows just how committed our team is to safely caring for our patients through their childbirth journey.”

The BirthPlace at Bronson Battle Creek Hospital maintains a variety of other recognitions and unique programs.

  • It is Safe Sleep Certified, meaning it has elite safety measures to reduce infant sleep-related deaths.
  • The hospital also received the Baby-Friendly designation, which shows adherence to the highest standards of care for breastfeeding mothers and babies. Should a baby need donor milk, it is available through the Bronson Mothers’ Milk Bank.
  • Breastfeeding consultants are available before and after delivery to guide you through nursing and the weaning process. Should your baby need donor milk, it is always available through the Bronson Mothers’ Milk Bank.
