Bronson Commons Receives National Recognition for Quality
Bronson Commons in Mattawan was recently awarded the 2018 Silver - Achievement in Quality Award by the American Health Care Association and National Center for Assisted Living (AHCA/NCAL). This program recognizes healthcare providers across the nation that have demonstrated their commitment to improving quality of care in long term and post-acute care centers. This year, 166 skilled nursing care centers and assisted living communities across 36 states earned the silver award. Bronson Commons is the only recipient in southwest Michigan.
“This is a tremendous recognition,” says Laura Hamman, assistant vice president and executive director of Bronson Commons. “Earning this national award demonstrates just how effectively our staff and care providers work together to deliver an exceptional experience to our patients.”
Based on the core values and criteria of the nationally recognized Baldrige Performance Excellence Program, the Association’s Quality Award program challenges providers to achieve performance excellence through three progressive levels—bronze, silver and gold. Members at the silver award level develop and demonstrate effective approaches that help improve performance and quality outcomes. They can then advance in developing approaches to meet criteria at the gold level.
“We’re immensely proud of the teams and leadership at Bronson Commons for achieving this level of quality care,” says Becky Trella, vice president of post-acute care at Bronson Healthcare. “This is also a reflection of our commitment to advancing the health of our communities by focusing on a continuum of care beyond the hospital.”
In addition to the silver award from AHCA/NCAL, Bronson Commons is certified by the Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and has received a five-star quality rating every year since 2008. It has also been named to the Best Nursing Homes list by U.S. News and World Report since 2013.
