Bronson Hosts Pfizer Vaccine Clinic for children ages 5 through 11 on Sunday, November 14
Bronson Healthcare is expanding scheduling for COVID-19 Pfizer vaccinations to include 5-11 year olds following the approval by the CDC to begin vaccinating that age group.
A vaccine clinic specifically for children ages 5 through 11 is scheduled for Sunday, November 14 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Bronson’s COVID-19 Vaccination Clinic located at 6901 Portage Road in Portage. Vaccinations are by appointment only. All 5 through 11 year olds are eligible and do not need to be a Bronson patient.
There will be approximately 200 appointment slots available when scheduling for the clinic opens early next week. Patients may select an appointment time (after scheduling opens) through online scheduling, or Bronson MyChart. Those unable to use online scheduling can call Bronson’s Vaccine Call Center at (269) 220-3970, Monday-Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Details can be found at bronsonhealth.com/covid19vaccine.
In addition to the Sunday clinic, Bronson’s four Community Vaccine Clinics in Battle Creek, Mattawan, South Haven and Portage will also have appointments available for 5-11 year olds starting the week of November 15.
Children must be accompanied by an adult at the clinic. If the adult present is not the parent or legal guardian, an authorization form must be signed by the parent or legal guardian and that paper consent must be brought to the appointment by the adult. We ask that not more than one adult accompany the child to the appointment due to space limitations.
“Expanding vaccinations to this new age group is an important step for children, families and our communities,” says Dr. Megan Sikkema, pediatrician at Bronson Children’s Hospital. “This vaccine is proven to be safe and effective. Immunizing children against COVID-19 will not only help protect them, but it will also help slow the spread of the virus throughout our communities.”
