Bronson Medical Group Acquires Well-Established Rheumatology Practice in Kalamazoo

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Effective June 5, 2023, Bronson Medical Group will offer rheumatology patients a second location in Kalamazoo as Ascension Medical Group Borgess Rheumatology at 501 S. Drake Rd. transfers to Bronson ownership.

The practice will become part of Bronson Rheumatology Specialists and be staffed by Desmond Jackson, MD, and Davi Sa Leitao, MD. Both are board certified rheumatologists and internal medicine specialists that focus on the diagnosis and treatment of rheumatoid arthritis and other inflammatory diseases, such as myositis, vasculitis and lupus in children and adults. They are accepting new patients and their current patients may continue receiving care from them if they choose to do so.

“Bronson is pleased to welcome Dr. Jackson and Dr. Sa Leitao to our team of rheumatology experts,” says Holly Adams, vice president and chief operating officer for Bronson Medical Group. “Having a location on the west side of Kalamazoo in addition to our downtown office give patients more options and more convenient access to care.

Dr. Jackson completed his rheumatology fellowship at Case Western University Cleveland Medical Center in Cleveland, OH., and his residency at St. John Hospital & Medical Center in Detroit, MI., and earned his doctorate degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine. 

Dr. Sa Leitao completed his fellowship in rheumatology and clinical immunology at the University of Pennsylvania in Pittsburg and completed his residency at Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia. Prior to practicing medicine in the United States, he served as a family physician within the Brazilian Federal government Family Health Program, providing care to uninsured families.
