CMS Awards Five Stars for Quality to Bronson Hospitals in Kalamazoo and Paw Paw and to Bronson Commons in Mattawan

In July, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) updated its Overall Hospital Quality Star Ratings for 2023. After evaluating 4,654 U.S. hospitals, it awarded five stars to just 483. Bronson LakeView Hospital and Bronson Methodist Hospital are honored to be among them.  Bronson Commons, the health system’s skilled nursing and rehabilitation facility in Mattawan, also achieved a top five-star rating.

The CMS ratings measure hospital quality and safety to help consumers make informed choices. Ratings are awarded on a scale of one to five stars with one being the lowest performing and five the highest. Scores are based on a wide range of publicly available data in categories that include mortality, safety of care, readmissions, timely and effective care, and patient experience.
