Modern Healthcare names Bronson President & CEO one of nation’s Top 25 Innovators
Modern Healthcare has announced that Bronson President and CEO Bill Manns is one of the nation’s Top 25 Innovators of 2021. Individuals are named to the Top 25 Innovators list for championing solutions to reshape the industry in big and small ways, pushing boundaries to help solve healthcare’s greatest challenges.
"There’s never been a more urgent time for the industry to experiment with innovations that can reshape how care is delivered. The members of this year’s class of Top 25 Innovators have introduced ideas that engage consumers in new ways, lower healthcare costs and take unique approaches to managing population health. The honorees were selected for their work in one of four areas: consumerism, cost reduction, population health and quality/safety. They were selected from nearly 200 nominations. We congratulate this class of honorees and look forward to following their careers," says Aurora Aguilar, editor of Modern Healthcare.
Manns was recognized for his innovative approach to engaging leaders and physicians in counteracting the negative financial impact created by the COVID-19 pandemic. In June 2020, he launched a 16-week creative cost reduction initiative that engaged a council of physicians and over 100 mid-level leaders in cross-functional teams to evaluate each of Bronson’s 583 cost centers in 13 companies. More than 500 strategic margin improvement ideas were generated resulting in substantial savings that successfully closed the 2020 budget gap. The initiative has had many other positive effects. The collaboration among team members further enhanced alignment between strategy and allocation of resources. It created shared learning experiences about the best ways to improve how revenue is optimized and how resources are spent, and it created stronger partnerships around service delivery across the health system. This innovative work continues in 2021.
