Virtual Run & Walk Raises Nearly $168,000 to support Bronson Children’s Hospital
The annual Bronson Children’s Hospital Run & Walk wrapped up Sunday, September 27, raising nearly $168,000 to support programs and services for hospitalized children and their families. Despite the fundraiser being held virtually this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it exceeded expectations.
“We are so grateful to the community, near and far, who participated even though we couldn’t all be together in one place this year,” says Terry Morrow, vice president of development, Bronson Healthcare. The event took place over a ten-day period, and included many opportunities for runners and walkers to engage through social media. All registrants received an event packet which included a t-shirt, finisher medal, and children’s activity kit.
“Participants shared so many wonderful photos with us of as they took part in the event in their own creative ways,” says Morrow. “It was inspiring to see that the true spirit of the annual Run & Walk and the connectedness that we share in support of our young patients still shined through.”
Now in its 13th year, funds raised through this Bronson Health Foundation event support child life services, art and music therapy, technology upgrades, and other features to enhance comfort and care for hospitalized children and their families. In addition to run/walk registrations, funds were raised through donations and sponsorships from businesses throughout the area, including presenting sponsor Mall City Mechanical.
