When is the best time to choose a hospital for emergency care?
The best time to choose a hospital is before you need one. This is especially important when it comes to accessing the best possible care for traumatic injuries from motor vehicle crashes, falls, burns, knife and gunshot wounds and sport or recreational mishaps.
Trauma is the leading cause of death for people under age 45. However, studies show patients treated at a Level I Trauma Center have the best chance of survival and recovery. Bronson Methodist Hospital is the only Level I Trauma Center in southwest Michigan. First verified as a Level I Trauma Center in 1989, the hospital has successfully met the American College of Surgeons’ stringent re-verification standards ever since.
The trauma team in Kalamazoo works closely with the emergency departments at Bronson Battle Creek, Bronson LakeView and Bronson South Haven hospitals, and with EMS and community hospitals throughout the region to coordinate the safe, timely transfer of patients who require the expertise and resources available only at a Level I Trauma Center.
The Bronson Healthcare system provides outpatient and inpatient services for people in need of immediate, urgent or emergency care at several locations in Calhoun, Kalamazoo and Van Buren counties. These include:
