Multidisciplinary Tumor Boards
At the Bronson Cancer Center, we take a holistic, multidisciplinary approach to treating cancer. One way we do this is with tumor boards. Tumor boards are collaborative meetings where a group of cancer experts and providers from different specialties meet on a regularly scheduled basis to review individual patient cases. The multidisciplinary group shares knowledge, explores treatment options and makes recommendations based on the most current evidence.
Tumor boards are made up of:
- Surgeons
- Medical oncologists/hematologists
- Pathologists
- Radiologists
- Other specialty providers
During a meeting, providers review a patient's condition, including health history, relevant imaging and pathology results. They will then recommend treatment plans that incorporate various factors such as other existing health conditions. A treatment plan could include standard therapy, genetic counseling or enrolling in a clinical trial if needed.
Bronson’s tumor boards include:
- Skin and Advanced Skin Cancer
- Breast
- Cardio-oncology
- Molecular
- Thoracic
