Commonly performed general surgery procedures include:
- Abdominal surgery – Any treatment of conditions associated with organs in your abdomen. This includes the stomach, gallbladder, large and small intestines and the abdominal wall.
- Breast surgery – Removal of all types of benign (not harmful) and malignant (cancerous) disease in the breast, as well as mastectomies
- Colonoscopy – A test, using a flexible tube with a light and camera attached, that lets your doctor look at the inner lining of your rectum and colon
- Digestive tract surgery - Treatment of a range of diseases associated with your stomach, small intestine, large intestine and rectum
- Endocrine surgery – Any surgical treatment for disorders of your endocrine glands. Glands are organs located all over your body that release chemical substances that your body needs. Examples include thyroid, adrenal and parathyroid glands
- Hernia surgery – A defect in your abdominal wall. After evaluation, the area may need to be surgically repaired

- Upper Endoscopy (EGD) – A test that lets your doctor look at your digestive track - from your esophagus to the beginning of your small intestines, using a flexible tube with a light and camera attached
