Robotic-Assisted Knee Replacement and Revision

Robotic-Assisted Knee Replacement and Revision

If you or a loved one has been experiencing knee pain that doesn't go away, it may be time for a partial or total knee replacement. The orthopedic surgeons at Bronson Battle Creek are pioneers of robotic-assisted surgery in southwest Michigan.

Bronson orthopedic surgeons use the CORI™ Surgical System to give patients the most advanced knee replacement and revision surgery available. The team at Bronson Orthopedic Specialists in Battle Creek and Marshall have more experience and perform more robotic-assisted partial and total knee replacement and revision surgeries with the CORI™ Surgical System than any other hospital in the region.

Knee replacement surgery: Often recommended for severe damage, chronic pain, stiffness or deformity of the knee joint.

Knee revisions: When a prior implant has failed, due to wear and tear over time.

Partial knee replacement: For early to mid-stage knee pain. This allows for the damaged area of the knee joint to be replaced while saving your tissue and ligaments that keep stability around the knee joint.

What can our robotic-assisted knee surgery mean for you?

  • Reduced recovery time
  • Keep more of your natural bone
  • Accurately placed implants thanks to 3D mapping
  • No CT-scan or exposure to radiation
  • Wide selection of high-quality implants

The CORI system used by Bronson orthopedic surgeons uses a hand-held smart tool and real-time 3D mapping. All of the information they need is at their fingertips. This method is more accurate which is critical when receiving an implant.

Wide Selection of Implants

Surgeons are able to choose implants from one of the widest selections of sizes available. This ensures that each patient gets the perfect fit for their body, reducing pain and recovery time while improving outcomes.

According to Smith + Nephew, the makers of CORI, the implants used are much more durable than traditional knee implant materials. The strength of the metal and extended wear properties of ceramic gives the implants a longer lifespan.

Bronson's Experienced Surgeons

The team at Bronson Orthopedic Specialists in Battle Creek and Marshall are pioneers of robotic-assisted surgery in southwest Michigan. Prior to introducing CORI, they successfully performed thousands of knee surgeries using robotics and are now leveraging this latest technology in order to further improve patient care and outcomes.

Bronson Orthopedic Surgeon Dr. Joseph Burkhardt has been instrumental in the development of CORI for total and partial knee replacements and revisions from its beginnings to securing FDA approval. He is one of the first certified surgeons to use this technology and has since trained and certified many other physicians across the country.

Currently, there are only a few surgeons in the country who are certified to perform knee revisions with CORI, and many of them have been trained by Dr. Burkhardt.
