Bronson uses Clinician Nexus, an online platform, to manage all student placements including independent job shadows at Bronson outside of medical students and residents. Students will create a student account in Clinician Nexus, search for the appropriate rotation (placement opportunity) and apply for a student experience. Answers to most questions about getting started in Clinician Nexus can be found at their Help Center: Clinician Nexus Help Center (intercom.help) All applications are pending until approved by the Center for Learning or Education Services after confirmation from the Preceptor.
How to apply for a rotation at Bronson
- Enter your email address and a password
- Choose “student” for your clinical role
- Add in your school's name. If it is not available, there is an option to request it be added.
- Clinician Nexus will send you an email to confirm your email address. Do this before moving forward.
- You may skip the profile section.
- Click on "Find clinical experiences" to search for rotations. Clinician Nexus will ask to access your location. If you do not accept, you will want to make sure that the map on this page is centered over Michigan. Clinician Nexus will only search for opportunities in the visible map space.
- Use the search box to find the appropriate student rotation (e.g. Music Therapy). Typing “Bronson” will bring up all available opportunities and is recommended if your search does not return the correct results.
- Click on the appropriate student rotation
- Scroll down to the bottom of the description, and choose “start application”
- In the dates section for “When”, please choose the start and end dates of your rotation. Please note that if you do not complete all onboarding requirements before your start date, your application will be automatically closed. Unless otherwise advised, make sure to put in a start date that is at least two weeks out to allow time for you to complete all requirements. If your rotation closes, you can email BronsonCenterforLearning@bronsonhg.org to have it reopened. If it is reopened the start date may be pushed back.
- If you have already confirmed a preceptor you may enter “N/A” for Learning Objectives.
- After all steps are completed, scroll to the top of the page, and choose “Save and Submit Request”. If you did not already confirm your email address, Clinician Nexus will not save any of your progress until you do so.
- Text will appear at the top of the screen showing that your application is pending. If you do not see this when you hit save and submit request, your application has not been submitted. Use the chat feature in the bottom right-hand corner to get assistance from Clinician Nexus.
- Be sure to log back in once your rotation is accepted to complete your onboarding requirements, including paperwork and verification of your minimum work requirements (MWRs). Please note that the MWR form will document your immunizations, TB test, drug screen and background check, and your school must verify and sign off on these requirements on the form if participating in a school-sponsored student experience.
