Volunteer Opportunities

    Volunteer Victim Advocate:

Volunteer Victim Advocates are specially trained in the area of sexual assault response. Volunteer Victim Advocates respond to local hospital emergency rooms, nurse examiner sites, and police departments to meet with survivors of sexual violence after being sexually assaulted within the Bronson service region: including Calhoun County and Van Buren County.* Volunteer Victim Advocates meet the direct needs of survivors & their non-perpetrating support system, by offering crisis intervention, non-judgmental support, advocacy, information & referrals. Volunteer Victim Advocates are to listen and believe the survivors, unconditionally, while respecting the survivor’s rights and decision-making in the healing process. This service is provided for survivors across their lifespan and is free of charge.

    * Kalamazoo advocacy is provided by the YWCA in partnership with SAS.
